August Lunch & Learn: IPM at Phipps
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens strives to bring the beauty of plants from around the world to Pittsburgh while inspiring people to take actions toward sustainability and environmental stewardship. Integrated pest management is designed to accommodate these goals, but leaves room for flexibility based on the goals of the implementer.
Speaker Braley Burke, IPM Specialist at Phipps, works with the horticulture team to find the most environmentally mindful IPM strategies. This presentation will explore their IPM program which includes selecting pesticides carefully and using them sparingly, releasing beneficial insects, and changing cultural practices to reduce pests.
